Default Some new year feedback on a notable success.

I've just had it confirmed to me that an irritating problem with CFR has now been solved.
As some may be aware the CFR have been confused ever since 2008 when the Unit Standard for Self-loading Rifles replaced the U/S for HMCs. CFR had been intermittently refusing applications for SLRs if you had SLR competence without Manually Operated Rifle competence. We have been tilting at this windmill for years.
In the middle of last year, following a discussion with Andre Pretorius (thank you, Andre, for the role PFTC and you, personally, played) of the Professional Firearms Trainers Council, an explanatory memo was sent to CFR detailing how the Unit Standards should be interpreted. Initially this had no effect. Towards the end of last year I met with General Bothma on behalf of Sport-shooting Forum, and took the matter up with him.

Still later last year it became apparent to us via the Foundation for the Defence of Democracy that the problem was still persisting. The Firearms Appeal Board told us there was nothing they could do. We instructed our attorneys to serve papers for a Judicial Review and summonsed everyone from the top down.
Our case is due in court within the next month or two.
Yesterday CFR issued an instruction to all DFOs that all occurrences of HMC on their system must be changed to SLR!
    Yay!

Paul - great on GOSA and PFTC but what a pity they have to be threatened first!

Well... I'm sure they don't HAVE TO BE... but it seems the only way to spur them into remedial action... Standby... more spurring on the way!
