    Default Clanwilliam Yellowfish.

I do the papgooier thing in the farm dam to try and keep the Carp poulation down. I have flogged the dam a few times with my fly-rod, in the hope of a Clanwilliam Yellowfish - a few of which were stocked here by CN - but had given up until today.
My first ever C Y fish. +/- 16" ! Even if caught on a carp rig.
Size for size 3x the fight of a carp. So it's out with the fly rod again.
Any suggestions on which fly for them would be welcome.

AFAIK Yellowfish is the hardest freshwater fighter you can catch in SA. Nice! :)

PS. I use a 7' 3-4 wt so if i do hook another one of the same size, it's going to be fun and games.

I thought they were on the endangered list.

AFAIK only prohibited to be caught in certain areas. I might be wrong though.

Indeed. Hence excitement. Unfortunately one does not always have a large bucket at hand. Would like to release them [hopefull Harry] into the river.
So now all carp fishing will be barbless from now on.
