If you'r really serious about 1911's, get a book called " The Model 1911 and Model 1911A1 military and commercial Pistols" by Joe Poyer, edited by Craig Riesch.

This is a very comprehensive book on every component and manufacturer of 1911's. It compares and lists all the parts used by specific manufactures and highlights the smallest differences such as no of grooves in the differing slide stops, size and shape of hammers etc.

I last saw a copy at Safari and Outdoor in Pretoria for about R450.
