    Default Lesotho travel EDC

Based on two other posts of a couple of years ago on this site it appears as if I will have to leave my EDC 9mm at home if I travel to Lesotho. Is this still the case or is there a legal way of travelling into the country with it?

There was a thread on it earlier this year I think. It's still stuck at a) leave it at home or b) book it in at a dealer close to the border.

Anyone perhaps know of dealers near the border close to Sani pass/Underberg?

Also be very careful if you carry a knife with you. I don`t know if its illegal or not, but I was threatened with arrest for towing my car out of Lesotho with a rope. Things where calming down quite well, until he saw the folding knife in my pocket and I barely managed to get out of that shit hole, it took some seriously smooth talking on my part, and eventually cost me R800. if he actually searched me, and found the 4" across my back I would still be there.

P.S. I detest people who pay bribes, and in my own country, would take any cop to task who tried to solicit a bribe from me. This situation was rather different and I saw the bribe as my only option to get myself, my car and my family out of there.

To anyone reading this. Don't do it. If you must travel with your firearm, store it at himeville saps before heading to the border. I went last weekend and they searched me.

I was dressed as civilian as possible. After stamping our passports, I was abruptly escorted to a back room where the male officer asked if I was carrying a weapon. Then proceeded to search me I when I said I'm not armed. He would have searched my vehicle too if I hadn't played it cool and my baby wasn't crying in my arms.

I repeat - you are very likely to be searched at the border.

It's russian roulette. Don't do it.
