"All blackpowder is the same." I never have been back in that shop.

Re: BS you've heard in the gunshop
From one of my preferred and favorite GS,
Salesman, You don't need a Glock, the 1911 has more stopping power.
Customer, But the Glock has higher capacity magazine.
Salesman, But you only need 1 shot from the .45 to stop an attacker.
I just walked away biting my tongue.

Re: BS you've heard in the gunshop
Heard something similar from staff at one of my local gun shops in Boksburg when I was really new to firearms.
Mine told me that you can carry the S16 but only without one in the chamber and only when you are driving to/from the range.
If you carry it without going to the range, you will be in trouble.
And if you break the rules by carrying it when you are not driving home from the range and do have to use it in self defense in a situation like a hijacking, then you should keep a shot target in your car with a box of empty casings and say you were coming home from the range so that you do not get in trouble - essentially lying to police !
What a joke, I should've walked out at that point but I was also looking at their 38 Special snubs to get an idea of what they go for.
I saw a fairly good condition stainless Taurus 38 Special snub and asked them what the price was, they told me around R4000.
I saw a really used blued Taurus snub with very worn rifling, severe holster wear and a cylinder that took a lot more force to close and asked them what their price was, they told me around R3000.
When I asked why they are so expensive on their 2nd hand guns, they said it is because when they buy a gun from someone they have to send it off to the SAPS in Pretoria for extensive ballistic testing to check that it was not used in a crime and this is very expensive. He also said that when you buy a 2nd hand gun from a person, you don't know if the gun was used in a crime and the police could come knocking on your door in a year or two.
I left there and never came back haha
