Sizing a clean, unlubed lead bullet may cause leading of the sizer. You could lube them, but will have to remove the lube before coating. Neither is ideal.

A properly shaped sizer die is tapered, so it will squeeze the bullet down to size, not scrape anything off.

Typical PC coatings on handgun bullets need to be around 0.001" thick at most. So you need to size it down by 0.002" at most, to get to original diameter. The sizer also irons out any roughness in the coating.

Shooting oversized PC cast bullets should not be an issue, as long as the loaded rounds chamber easily. The effort of sizing the bullet in the chamber throat is so little that it has insignificant effect on pressure and accuracy.

If it takes lots of effort to size a coated bullet, there are a few tricks to reduce the effort. Adjusting the sizer die (Lee push-through type) correctly is important, and (very lightly) lubing the coated bullets with silicone spray will help a lot. I see no need to size twice.

Indeed those were coated 3 times. The process is simple enough. If you want to save time, 2 coats would work just fine.

In the past I have had success with Powderlak PC.

With traditional PC I haven’t managed to get perfect coverage. Although it is still good enough for use. A 100% covered bullet looks much better than a 99% coated bullet. Although, in use, there is no difference.

I am reluctant to suggest a load. The best is to start on the castboolits forum and then work up a load. Casting your own bullets is not too difficult, but bullet sizing, fouling etc. are factors to consider.

Firstly, how much reloading experience do you have?
Second, have you slugged your barrel?
Third, you will need a chrony when developing a load.

    Regards,
    Wesley

Load data is the same as used and recommended for wax-lubed cast bullets.

    Hi Wesley.

    No problem I hear you.

I do have friends that have reloaded for decades so I will definitely irritate them on this.

Unfortunately I have only started handling guns the last 2 years so my reloading experience is zero.

    Isn't slugging for old guns?
