Armed passerby stops knife attack with warning shot

Wasn't there a story about someone shooting a revolver from his flat and the bullet hitting a spectator at a stadium and police were able to trace the trajectory back to the area and eventually find the culprit? I think the story must have been about 10-15 years ago.

If I remember correctly, a guy in the Ponte block of flats fired a .357 revolver off his balcony, and the bullet hit a spectator inside Ellis park. As you say, the boffins worked on the trajectory and traced him. Fortunately for the police, the firearm was licenced, which narrowed down the search a lot.

For some reason I recall it being a Lions game...just thought it was a revolver, had a 357 in my mind but I definitely stand under correction as my memory of the incident can be described as sketchy at best.
