Default Trail Cams and feeders - what do you use?

OK, so after reading all the horror stories, I'm too chicken to go into the middle of a maize field looking for bushpigs on my own, so I thought I should try the feeder route.

I'm looking for suppliers and suggestions for a good trail camera and for a timed maize feeder.

Do you have any suggestions on what to get and where to buy it from?

I can't help with bushpig hunting or feeders but I use a Bushnell (Essential 119736) trail cam. Night time images from this particular model are not too clear but its a great little camera. It does capture fantastic daytime images and is rather simple to operate. Perhaps another model from Bushnell could work for you

    Hi There

I wouldn't suggest outlaying too much money for a trail camera. I've got one that records in colour and sound (expensive) and one that records in black and white with no sound (cheaper). I get no more information out of the expensive one than the cheaper model. All it needs to do is tell you what came to eat, what time it came and how long it stayed. Do you really need colour, sound, high definition? Only you can answer that. I'd stick with simple options like Ranger. You can find options all over the internet.

With regards feeders, I use a Moultrie all in one feeder. You can buy the electronic feeder already mounted to a 5 gallon bucket or you can buy the electronic feed dispenser alone and mount onto a vessel of your choice if you feel 5 gallons (however much that actually is?) is too big or too small for your needs. You can programme it to come on at a particular time and dispense food for a certain number of seconds before turning off. They are very nifty.

    Hope that helps.

Hunting pigs from stands over baits is a lot safer than on foot and still very exciting in my opinion.

    Good luck.
