    Default Winchester Model 70

What do I look for to check if a Winchester Model 70 is still original ?

This is serial number in the 57-thousand, 375H&H, made in 1945.

I want to mount a scope, but it has no holes on the rear of the receiver.

If it's in good original condition, I'll keep it as is, otherwise drill and tap for a rear scope base if it won't make a difference to the value.

Keep it as is and rather buy a newer model!
