Default ACHTUNG - Tupperware Brigade: Help needed.

So, I had a look at a Glock 19 last night and while it was dirty, holster-worn and in need of some TLC, it looked good.

Thing is, it didn't quite fit my hand: my little finger was right at the bottom of the grip, halfway off, in fact.

Now, I know you can probably make it work & get used to it, but it just didn't feel 100% right to me.

I intend to use the gun for IDPA and occasional carry, but the grip-issue does bug me.

The price is good, but buying a gun because it's there & cheap with a grip that I'm not convinced of, doesn't make sense.

    Am I being F.O.S.?? ???

To make use of the full size of the 19 grip and make the grip better you get a mag pad that fills the half moon cutout in the front bottom part of the grip. Maybe it will make the difference you need.

    Khumba,

That was the thing: my finger could not find purchase on that halfmoon.

I suppose that could work, but availability..??

    Back from the dead!!!

BB, if the G19 doesn't fit your hand, try a G17. If the gun will be used for sport exclusively, I'd suggest a G17 in any case due to longer sight radius as well as being a more balanced package IMO (I feel that all full sized pistols are better balanced, just my thoughts).

G19 is great for carry. Couple of mills off of the grip length does wonders for concealment, but I happily conceal my G17, being a "similar size to life" guy.

I've seen those mag pads but do not like the idea of losing the cut-out. It's meant to give you a place to grip the mag, should it become stuck in the mag well. Although not likely to get stuck (but they do from time to time), I think this is an important feature, especially for sport shooting where mags get dirties and likely to get stuck.

PS: Yes, you are F.O.S. , but that's got nothing to do with the G19, my pedigree chum!

    Jaaaa...

Though you are physically and mentally a bit stunted Bla, I'm going to agree with you on this; I am a tall bloke that can hide a FN on my body, so the difference between G19 & G17 is negligible... (that big word means you can ignore the difference, Bla...)

Fixing something that's not broken is not the way to go.

I'd rather add R1K and buy this, IMHO...

That would be an excellent buy for R4,5k.

I am on record that I prefer the G17 to the G19.

I have never experienced a stuck mag in 20 Years of operating the different Glocks I have and had (G17, G26 = have and G22, G19, G23, G17L, G21 = had) but I have seen guys on the range having to wiggle the gun or manipulate the mag to get it out of a Glock during a mag change - I do not know why and I would have shelved the mag the first time it happened to me.

Exactly... hence my slight hesitance for the Glock...

There is a G21 in circulation as well, so I'll go feel that up & go from there.

BB - I initially had the same problem with my G19. However, once I started shooting it regularly it became a non-issue. Also, try the G19 with a +2 mag-extension and see how that feels. Otherwise, try the 17/22/21 size G-locks as mentioned. I have both sizes and the G19 is definitely a better carry piece. My G22 sits better in the hand though.
