    Default Glock Slide Lock

    Gooday
I would like to know if failure for my Glock 19 slide to lock back after the last round is fired can be as a result of soft re-loads? I ask this as when I shoot hotter loads I dont seem to have this issue.

    Many thanks

    Wesley

Just fwiw thats the slide stop that performs that function. The slide lock keeps the barrel in place and is what you pull down to disassemble the pistol.

The issue could be made worse by very soft ammo. Also check that neither of your hands is interfering with the slide stop.

Apologies I meant to say slide stop. Thank you for your advice

Not a Glock, but I had this with my fullsize M&P. I don't have huge hands, but the tip of my RH thumb just touched the slidelock, and prevented it from engaging. Solution was as easy as fitting the next-size-up grip insert (in my case going from M to L), with the unintended advantage of shooting it better, for a reason I've not really thought about (but probably having to do with the mechanics of moving the trigger "more straight" backwards). Interestingly, I don't have the slidestop issues with either the Compact (with M grip insert) or the Shield.

I agree with Skaaphaas though, if you don't have the issue with factory ammo, soft loads may well also be a contributary factor.

As you sure that it isn't a fatigued mag spring? If you empty the mag, and cycle the slide, does it stay open?

In my limited experience with Glocks, you would have a failure to cycle a round, before you got to the empty mag problem?

Glock mags get fatigued! This happened this weekend with the wife's CZ, seemed like soft loads.
