Re: semi auto on a budget
Sadly, the words "semi auto" and "budget" very rarely belong in the same sentence. Considering that a 200 round practice/shooting session will set you back R1000 plus (less if you reload, but then you have to factor in the initial outlay to get started). I am with Big T on this: why have it and not shoot it, unless you are a collector, of course.

Re: semi auto on a budget
A bit more than the OP's budget, but Frontier Guns have ADC M5's for R18,500: https://www.frontierguns.co.za/produ...utomatic-rifle
According to the guys at Frintier the barrel is a Lothar Walther standard barrel, 1:9 twist.

Re: semi auto on a budget
Buying a semi auto is cheap compared to buying ammo for them.
Application dependent, I think you may be better served with a mini rifle.

Re: semi auto on a budget
It will be for IDPA dmg as well as medium to longer-ish range shooting, i prefer 223 as i have alooooooot of 223 ammo already and i reload, i know were i can get a better stock for a mini 14 to make it dg ready, the question is, where can i find a mini 14 or something else in 223?
