    Default Catfish.

Not truly fishing, I caught this one by hand in a shallow pool, off the mainstream of the Orange River, after they opened the sluice gates at Van der Kloof dam, which caused the water level to drop rapidly. Kind of canned fishing. Anyhow, it was quite exciting and I returned it to the main stream.

Nina, a 5 year old wire haired terrier bitch. The idea was that she would be a tracking dog, however, as a puppy she got into a fight with a cat, resulting in her being blind in one eye, and hating cats. She does track and have bayed several wounded animals, including a black wildebeest and several warthog, allowing me to get a shot, but she tend to run into things when she get excited. So, these days she is more a pet than a working dog. And yes, I'd get another one. They are not the most intelligent of dogs but they have great personalities and are very loyal and gutsy.

Take a big hook, hook it and throw back into river, as bait.

    Now catch a proper catfish.

Yeah, I must admit I've seen BIG catfish before.... ones that would eat this one for lunch.... that said, I don't think you can hold it up by the gills.
