I have pure lanolin at home and have used it to lube o-rings etc, but I wouldn't dream of putting that stuff on my guns.
Lanolin is obtained from wool. Have you seen a sheep rust?
It is one of the wonder waxes that gets used everywhere. it's also good for your skin and most good moisturizing creams has it in as well.

    She Don't Use Jelly Lyrics

I know a girl who thinks of ghosts
    She'll make ya breakfast
    She'll make ya toast
    She don't use butter
    She don't use cheese
    She don't use jelly
    Or any of these
    She uses Vaseline
    Vaseline
    Vaseline
I know a guy who goes to shows
When he's at home and he blows his nose
He don't use tissues or his sleeve
He don't use napkins or any of these
    He uses magazines
    Magazines [Repeat: x4]

I know a girl who reminds me of Cher
    (reminds me of Cher)
    She's always changing
    (she's always changing)
    The color of her hair
    (color of her hair)
    She don't use nothing
That ya buy at the store
She likes her hair to be real orange
    She uses tangerines
    Tangerines [Repeat: 5]

Yes. The casting is porous and air seeps through. Actually the same happens with tires, but the pores in the rubber are much smaller. The CO2 and O2 tend to seep through the rubber, but the N stays behind. So with every top-up, the % N in the tires increases. No need to pay for special Nitrogen filling.

10^-8 Bar. So that is 0.000 000 08 Bar or 0.008 Pa (N/m2). Would be somewhat difficult to measure down there.

Air does seep through various materials at those levels, depending on thickness and quality. On the metals, it mostly seeps through flaws or voids in the material. Rubber O-rings are a different matter. The interesting part is finding these leaks.
