Re: Outdoor Floodlights options
Hi Hitman,
What distance do you need the lights to shine?
I am on a small holding and have REEFLITE 150W HPS(high pressure sodium) lights around the house. they make a yellow light and they work brilliantly. I fitted them 6yr ago and they are still running without problems. I have tested the LED lights they seem to not go as far as the HPS lights. I run them all night and I can see my neighbours house clearly from my bedroom window about 100m away.

Genlux. They have 80W sodium. Covers large area, hence economical. Flood or post.

I put up a normal "jam jar" light fitting on the corner under the roof with a 9w led bajonet globe in it and it covers 2 sides of the house and yard.

Re: Outdoor Floodlights options
A word of advice on LED floodlights. Although definitely cost-effective, they do not like power surges & dips. I live on a farm and have gone through many. Eskom power supply sorts them out quickly. Most of the guarantees that come with LED's exclude damage due to power surges/dips.
I have changed over to HPS (high pressure sodium) and although much more expensive in initial outlay, never a problem since. The HPS colour also is nicer and illuminates better for CCTV systems.
