    I think it certainly is. Just makes it difficult when you are already juggling a lot of things on your plate, and then you want to make time for this too.

    Can you "quit" what if you do all the the training etc and after a few months to a year, your situation changes, maybe your wife has a baby, you change jobs etc etc life happens...

    Is it a case of either you're in our you're out? Could you take like a sabbatical?

    If you think things are going to change that drastically in the next 6 months, or however long the training will be, then i would advise against joining. After that, what is 16 hours in a month? A weekend shift and that is it done, or two hours at night in the charge office, Monday - Thursday for two weeks.
    I can't see them taking very kindly to putting you through all that training and issuing a uniform (possibly) just to have you disappear; there would have to be some kind of commitment.
