Re: Cape Town - Rifle Rust-Free Storage?
I use 2 rifle bags. One storage and one for shooting. I dip a rag in CLP oil and wipe the complete rifle and drop some oil in the barrel, and put it in the storage bag. This bag has a slight oil residue in the material but keep fog and mist away. When shooting I clean the rifle and then put it in the shooting bag for use till it go back into storage bag.

Re: Cape Town - Rifle Rust-Free Storage?
I would recommend this: Protective Wax to be applied to firearms, tools or parts that are intended for deep storage or very humid climates,
We also stock Heavy duty Rifle storage bags
For the safe I would recommend our Desiccant in various sachet sizes to absorb moisture, however this will be instore tomorrowRecent studies show that 1 out of every 3 liberals are just as dumb as the other 2

Re: Cape Town - Rifle Rust-Free Storage?
Is the location of your safe dry?
Is it bolted to a weather wall?
Are there water pipes in the wall?
If there is any hint of dampness in the wall move your safes.
I argued with insurance for years that there was a leak in my shower. They sent experts out with their water meters etc and couldn't find anything despite the damp in the wall. It eventually turned out to be a length of copper piping with micro pitting in it from acidic soil under the concrete. It took years to manifest but the point is you don't hear all water leaks in the walls, nor can they be located at times - keep safes away from water walls.
I also throw the gel bags from shoe boxes etc into the safe and have not had a rust problem ever.

Buy some Fluid Film. Spray a bit on cloth.
Wipe firearms. And thats about it.
Just dont use Fluid Film as lubrication on slides.
As it becomes taccy after a while.
But for rust prevention. Nothing beats it.

Re: Cape Town - Rifle Rust-Free Storage?
Heads-up on this one:
I tried a few shops my end a week ago and was told that these dehumidifiers had been 'discontinued'.
I haven't verified with the manufacturer yet, but two large chain shops I went visting had none.
