Re: African Wild Cat
Don't encourage the propagation of hybrids. Want a cat, get a house cat.
It will harm our african wild cat gene pool.live out your imagination , not your history.

There are significant legal issues as well.

Re: African Wild Cat
I dont want one - I just want to know more about them. Specifically what they look like. I would never encourage hybrid breeding.

Re: African Wild Cat
According to Smithers' "Mammals of the Southern African sub region", there are probably no unpolluted, "pure" African wild cats in the wild. African wild cats were domesticated thousands of years ago by the ancient Egyptians, interbred with some other domestic cats, and some of the DNA escaped back into the wild population.
The African wild cats that I did see in the bushveld looked like very large, grey house cats.

Re: African Wild Cat
I have searched the internet looking for photos of hybrid african wildcat, with no success. However, there are several photos of hybrids of serval and domestic cats, seems as if these are bred on purpose.

Re: African Wild Cat
Mr Stone, have you come across the kolkat/gekolde kat (black footed cat) in your area?
Ps: We know them as miershooptier.
