What is wrong with me????

During this December season I decided to bring out all my knives from hibernation and hiding.

Make no mistake I don't have a knife collection at all and I am no collector by any accounts whatsoever.

When I was cleaning and oiling my knives I had a stainless steel bladed swiss army pocket knife and a stainless steel fixed blade hunting knife on the table together when I accidentally dropped the Swiss army knife onto the fixed blade hunting knife and needless to say their blades touched on their cutting edges.

I still feel like a d@@s right now as they both have tiny chip marks on their cutting edges and however small they might be I am not a happy chappy right now.

To add fuel to fire I used a Warthog knife blade sharpner on my swiss army knife blade and it also left unsightly and unwanted scratches on the blade despite following the instructions 100% of how to use it.

I obviously know jack shit about sharpening knives and hence would like to learn in order to help myself.

My plea for help is to a knife maker or similar skilled individual that will be able to sharpen and restore or fix the cutting edges of my two knives and show me how to correctly do it in future.

I live in Pretoria and would highly appreciate it if someone that is perhaps also in Pretoria to assist me if possible.

Throw the Warthog in the dustbin.

Get a real sharpener.

Sharpen the tiny chips out.

Repeat.

There are quite a few threads on sharpening knives. Please search and read them? Stay away from belt sanders etc and use something which fastens both the blade and the stone in a set angle to each other. PM me if necessary.

I have been using a normal lansky sharpner with oil stones. I recently bought an extra diamond extra course lansky stone and have been able to quckly get the edges back on old knives and heavily used knives. Worth the investment

I have always been using a Lansky with the multiple oil stones. Time consuming yes, but worth it all the way !

I have always been using a Lansky with the multiple oil stones. Time consuming yes, but worth it all the way !

Since I got the one diamond stone I have cut my time with 30%
