Default .22 accepted distance for accuracy.

I do not know how to ask this so story . The usual shooting in distance for a center fire rifle is 100 m and a 200 m zero, what is the equivalent for a .22 rifle.

I zero at 50 and that's my usual practice distance with my 22 (it can shoot 1/2 inch at 50 when I do my part), but I can quite comfortably shoot at a hundred (requires scope adjustment) ... I shot a gong at 200m the other day just for fun, and the hold over must have been almost 3 feet. H

Treeman..i don"t think there is a "recognised" standard for the 22.

With "load developement" you will simply be checking various brands of ammo and sub,std and high velocity to see which groups the best in your rifle.[not that we have a wide variety available to us at any one stage]

If it helps - i tested ammo at 75m,with the reasoning that it felt far enough for differences in ammo to be obvious and yet close enough for external influences such as a light breeze not to have too much effect. This distance also seemed to suite my rifle, scope combination.

Once i was happy with the choice of ammo,i sighted the rifle in to be spot on at 75m.I then shot a 10 shot group at 25m,50m and 100m to check trajectory. These targets i keep as a reference and i know were the rifle shoots at these distances.[i also play around up to 200m]

As you know, once you have decided on the ammo, buy a few bricks as you never know when it will be available again.

At that time, it was my CZ 452-2E ZKM fitted with a Tasco Golden Antler 3-9x40 air rifle scope. Since then the scope has been changed to a new Lynx LX2 3-9x40D becuase clarity past 75m with the tasco became a issue.

    Hi

I usually zero at 25 m. It will then be nearly dead on again at 50 m.
Drop at 100m, standard velocity about 8-10", high velocity about 5-6"
    and subsonic about 12"

I zero at 25 meters because it is easier to zero at this short distance lol. At 40 meters I am still spot on. I have made a ''cheat sheet'' for my scope. At 60 meters for example I must count 10 clicks up. At 100 meters I must turn the dail 37 clicks to be on zero. That is with subsonic ammo and with a low as possible mounted scope.
    Hope it helps.

My reasoning behind a 75m zero:

With a max shooting distance of 100m,the trajectory, slightly high at 25m and slightly low at 100m is minimal.
Just found it to be practical with minimal thought required as to distance and aiming points.
Most people can judge 75m fairly accurately...if it looks a lot closer aim a couple of inches low,if it looks a tad further, aim a couple of inches high.
