Wouldn't 112kg be close to the world record for a wild leopard?

Yes, sorry, I meant an African leopard. Well, if the scale is correctly calibrated...

I don't know that much about leopards but I've seen them in the wild a few times. Once in Bots I found one walking along the side of the road. Like a dog. I drove alongside him (her?) for a few hundred meters and he was totally unfazed. Weird.

I'd say that although its ugly, the handler got off lightly for an encounter with such a big leopard. Could have been a lot worse I expect?

Not professsing to know everything about leopards but I spent a fair amount of time with some leopard researchers. Helped collar a few. Conversations invariably turn to the biggest!
Yes there are a few leopards that have come out of Zim and limpopo very close to the 100 kilo mark but these Leopards were beasts. Any leopard over 90 kilos is an exceptional speciman.
Considering the average lioness weighd 125 kilos, you can see that this cat is a fair bit smaller than the average lioness.

Anyway they are indeed stunning creatures. I have had the privilege of spending time with a few leopards and every encounter was special.

I am also not convinced of the weight. Got a few friends and family that is regularly involved in leopard hunts and seen most of their hunting photos.

This is a pic of a +-200lbs cat for comparison:

I don't car how many photos they post of the scale, it doesn't make it true.

This might be a stupid question but could it be that the cat had some cubs on the way and that it added to the weight?
