How to oil the slide of a handgun that has grip tape on slide ?
Hi guys,
Anyone here know how to oil the slide of a handgun that has grip/skateboard tape on the slide for easier racking ?
Do you just oil around the tape ?
Won't it rust underneath the tape ? I'd hate to peel the tape off after a while and find a big patch of rust underneath.
Thanks

If the tape is properly applied it will lock out / prevent any moisture or air from getting in below it. It will eventually peel but that will be because the oil will dissolve the glue over time. Just oil / wipe down as normal. Don't use a soft/fluffy cloth, unless you like having fluff stick to the grip tape. Use a very old piece of T-shirt....

Funny that you should post this. My skateboard tape came off my slide yesterday during cleaning, and I don't have any lying around the house... need to go buy some more :-(
M43 is spot on. The tape stayed on for about 6 months, with a lot of use... so it does it's job. No sign of rust underneath.
