Thanks (again) to Dave Sheer Guns.
Once again great service from 'the guys' at Dave Sheer Guns.
Garth and Akmal, in the nicest possible way, showed me that the 'problem' I was having, was not with the sights on my Ruger LC9, but was with the way I was shooting it !
Really good advice from them; and perhaps more importantly they did not make me feel like a total idiot.
Thanks Guys have a great (belated) 2017.
Keith.

Re: Thanks (again) to Dave Sheer Guns.
Also bought my LC9 from them. Interestingly enough, Ruger had no idea DSG were selling Rugers, not sure if they approved. They sent me some spare parts directly when I ran into trouble, although it took ages to get it.
They are difficult to shoot due to the short sight radius and small overall size, but I'm steadily improving.
For interest sake, how old is yours? Still one from the first run or the improved LC9s or Pro?

Re: Thanks (again) to Dave Sheer Guns.
The guys there are great.
Akmal is very good and knows his stuff, fixed my revolver last month and it's 100% now.
The other gunsmith, I think his name is Sebelo ?, helped strip my gun and reseat the locking block pin of my Glock that was not in correctly and now its perfect. Very helpful.
Kenny and Brian are great too. Brian helped fit some night sights to my Glock and I bought a bunch of stuff there for my Glock.
Brian also pointed out a new holster they had received which I didn't know about and it was a really good holster so I bought that too.
Haven't met Garth yet, probably will soon.
Their range is also great. Good ventilation, a nice counter area just outside the range where you can sit and clean your gun if you want and an awesome range officer too.
Overall a really good experience there :)

Re: Thanks (again) to Dave Sheer Guns.
Hi LoopSoosStroop.
I bought the Ruger about 14 months ago after reading a review in "Man-Magnum" magazine and of course trying one out at Dave Sheer Guns.
I don't think that it is a 'first run' model...but I don't really know !
How can I tell ?
DSG had several Ruger models on display including a pink LCP which Li has decided will be her next EDC...Birthday coming up.
I never thought to ask DSG if they were agents for Ruger...I just assumed that they are/were.
If not...does anybody on the Forum know who is the main agent/importer in South Africa ?
Glad that you got your parts OK, albeit after a wait...Seems about the 'norm' for getting any parts from overseas, irrespective of country or firearm.
It took over 12 weeks to get a part for my CZ-Bruno .22 Rifle.
The joys of ITAC !
So far no problems with the LC9, apart from my bad eyesight (age related), vari-focal lenses and trying to aim and fire it like I aim and fire my .38 special 'wheelie'
My 'bad' and now put right by Garth and Akmal.
Thanks again Guys.
Regards,
Keith.Last edited by keithbatkins; 26-01-2017 at 16:30. Reason: spelling

Re: Thanks (again) to Dave Sheer Guns.
The new ones say LC9s on the slide, s being for striker fired. A number of external differences as well. No loaded chamber indicator etc. Much improved trigger as well. Go and have a look at how Hickok45 raves about it on Youtube. And how well he shoots it!
The first run LC9's, of which I suspect you have one as well, have some issues. Most notably being the firing pin retaining pin breaking and rendering the gun inoperable. Not great if you are facing bad guys. Mine is sorted with a DIY solution now and happily running along. The LC9s does away with this retarded feature.
Mine also had feeding issues with 158 swc cast bullets, but tbh those were not designed for a 9 mm. I now shoot 150 rn bullets and I've not had any kind of failure in the last 1000 rounds or so, shooting it a lot nowadays.
From stock I would reccomend polishing the feed ramp and beveling the inside of the front top of the magazine bodies, very blunt bullets tend to hang up there.

Thanks Finkelstein.
That's good to know.
Should I ever need parts (which I hope I never do) I will get in touch with them.
Regards,
Keith.

Jip, VLT in Pretoria and G&B in CT.
Of the two, Guns & Bows are more jacked up.
