Ruger M77 458 win mag.
I have an old (1978) tang safety M77 in .458 Win. Mag, I tried to disassemble the rifle but the forend screw is stuck, I tried turning it and it only turns a short ways and stops, any advice how to remove this screw?
Also, where I can find the instruction manual (PDF) for this particular rifle?

Buster, that type of problem is normally the result of the screw being bent due to recoil. The fact that it moves a bit rules out rust. Nothing for it but to apply brute force. Get the rifle in a vice, a properly fiitted screwdriver (if need be drill a hole through the handle to take a 'tommy bar') and go for it. That's what your 'smith would have to do.

Some lube on the screw might reduce the friction a little, making your job easier.
Ruger have manuals on their website. Not sure if your particular rifle's manual is still up, check it out. They usually have detailed "exploded" drawings of the particular FA included. Might help a little.
