Sports adventure shooting Grading 2017

For months now lots of talk was had about implementing a grading system for Sas. This has finally come into effect on our January Qualification session.

The idea was for members to inter-compete against each other and encourage improvement.

Spray & Pray may be an option, but Accuracy is final

So this was decided...

Shooting Grades
Shooting grading would be calculated as such:
Based on Hit percentage:
100% = A+
>90% = A
>80% = B
>70% = C
>60% = D
<60% = X

Amount of shots is unlimited, BUT, the hit percentage is important.

Hiking Grades
Level 1 hike (3.2km in 40min)
Time in minutes
<20 = A+
20-25 = A
25-30 = B
30-35 = C
35-40 = D

Level 2 hike (6.4km in 90min)
<50 = A+
50-60 = A
60-70 = B
70-80 = C
80-90 = D
>90 = X

Some old and new members achieved these grades for January. You'll receive an embroidered patch indicating your Level and grade. Thus by looking at each other’s patches you'll know how you match up and who is in the "X-Men" club.

The first letter refers to the shooting element and the second to the hike times. There is no distinction at this point for gender or age.

Honey Badger - BB
Rustler - XC
Luke - XD
Mauritz Smith - XD

Level 2
Tooth Fairy - A+B
Newy – AB
Staffy - CD
Tracer - XD
Skywalker - XD

Level 3
Plaashaas AB
Camo - AD
777 – CD
Shotgun – AD
Betoger - DX
Blits - XX
Grunt - XX

Weather conditions varied between heavy downpours and very muddy underfoot to hot and humid

Thanks to Plaashaas for setting up the system on excel to determine the grade. He has worked the hardest.
