Probably one of the most uncomfortable rifles Ive ever shot, MOERSE recoil and heavy to carry also! The .458 felt like a 243 agains the 460 Weatherby.

Sold mine 460 for the same reason as above. But I managed 3 shots... after that I enjoyed watching city sleekers that wanted to shoot a big bore having a go with it... priceless!!

I am not doubting the knock down effect for 1 second , but man it packs a punch !

Dunno about knockdown power, but the 460 does have the best penetration index of all hunting rifles.
Just not sure if it's worth it when all the pro's and cons are compared.

A company I worked for used to own a Weatherby mk5 in .460 WM, we loaded a 500 gr bullet to 2300 fps and it was not unpleasant to shoot from field positions, quite accurate too. I have no doubt that pushing that same bullet 300 fps faster would change the character completely.

agreed , I was meaning knock down / penetration etc all in one sentence , but agree with your comment.
