30-06 Voere
Got my eyes on a 30-06 Voere for 6k. What are your thoughts on the rifle.
The barrel is in mint condition.

I got a 8x57 Voere which I've had for about 10 years, lovely, light, accurate rifle, would never sell mine.

Shoot it with at least three different makes of ammunition. If it groups reasonably with all three, buy it but, if it will not, pass it by. For 6k it must have steel scope mounts and a reasonable quality scope.

Well, today I took the plunge, bought my self a lovely little 30-06. Yes, it is a Voere - Austria. Tiny little rifle so has a bit of a kick. Wouldn't recommend it to those of you with soft shoulders.
Anyway, when I held it for the first time, I couldn't put it down. It just feels right. I maybe should have put a lot more rounds down range, but it wouldn't have made a difference. The 5 shots I fired at hundred meters all into a R1 coin. Was all I needed to convince myself.
Tomorrow I go and do the paperwork. Wish me luck.

What - a R1 coin - 5 shots?! Few rifle's can do that - seems like you got yourself a beauty.

Maybe R1 was a bit of an exageration. I don't think I'm that good. They were all touching though. Probably more like R5 coin. Still not bad I reckon.

Very good. With factory ammunition? I will buy that rifle anytime of the day.

Whats the barrel profile like?
I've seen a lot of Voere rifles with very light (read thin) profile barrels and they dont seem to like rapid shots in quick sucession. Not that this would be a problem when hunting

@Nortier: Yes: Factory Ammo - Lucky I guess
@Thomast: The barrel does seem a little light, but then again. If I need to use it for rapid fire while hunting, I shouldn't be hunting at all. I guess only time will tell. When I finally take ownership of the rifle, I'll post some photos and some shot targets.

I will happily trade a little ballistic efficiency and a bit more recoil along with a tendency to string multiple shots vertically (the usual issue with light barrels) for a big reduction in weight any day of the week with a rifle that must be carried.
Congrats on a very nice rifle!Run Fast, Bite Hard!
