    I have often looked at this kind of thing and the price, what is it used for(beside obvious) surely its not a for fun object, and therfore a tool for a job which generates income. What do most buyers do with one of these - particularly in regard to using night vision as other option.

    @ treeman,mostly for spotting (and hopefully target id,given recent incidents where "workers" were misidentified as eg hogs and shot by accident at night)

    Easier than normal nv to differiate between eg sheep and jackal if you are not using white light.

    Very useful to spot people and animals in the dark or even in the day in light plant cover. Can spot people at 100m in the dark where night vision you would still need to differentiate between animate and inanimate objects. The big advantage is that you can "see" the different heat's of objects. One drawback is that you can't spot through glass etc.

    It has many applications in security as well and for larger areas like farms it is unmatched.
