best non +P carry ammo
Howsit all
Right so after being warned to not shoot +P in my Hi power im wondering what is the best non + P carry ammo?
Should I go for a lighter bullet that has a greater muzzel velocity or should I go for heavier and slower option?
I will hopefully get Golden sabre standard pressure in 124grain soon, and also have some magtech 115grain.
what do you guys reccommend?
Luke

Luke
The mid weight options in my opinion are best. Good balance between momentum and penetration.
The 124gr Remington Golden Sabers, 124gr Speer Gold Dots are good options, big pity we can get the Federal HST 124gr std pressure JHP's here.
Otherwise the 147gr Golden Sabers and 147gr Speer Gold Dots are also winners.
Check out www.hipowersandhanguns.com , lots of research/testing done using Hi-Powers and +P/+P+ ammo as well as standard pressure JHP's. Good site.

Cool yea thanks Brendank
I have read that site a great deal and they say the hi power can handle +P, I am however going to be cautious with the old girl and stick to standard.
cheers and thanks for the advice.

About the only actual available options are the Sabres the Magtech and PMP's JHP's. The Sabre is most likely the best of the options but make sure you have enough to properly function test your pistol.
From some gel tests I've recently managed to find Magtech would look to be second choice. But first choice if that's what you can afford to properly test.

Re: best non +P carry ammo
That would be my first choice either the Ranger T's (nickel plated case, copper bullet) or Ranger SXT's (brass case, black Lubalox coated bullet) but you have a better chance of getting pregnant than finding them.
The 147gr Golden Saber is an excellent option though and have been available. The expand like mad and penetrate really well. Possibly the best expansion I have seen on a 147gr JHP apart from the Ranger T.

Re: best non +P carry ammo
Remington Golden Saber 124gr 9mmP is available.
When this discussion ends they may be sold out and then it will take another year for some stock (that is if the US indulge us) to be available.
The whole consignment of 9mmP received consisted of a mere 200 boxes. More were ordered but that was all Remington assigned to SA.
As pointed out by T it does not help to know what is gtg but not actually available anyway - there is a whole list of desirable 9mmP ammo but 14 out of 15 are not available currently and may never actually be.
