At the price of a suni I would not risk it with a shotgun and birdshot.

I also thought so...I am personally more interested in trying out for one of those 10kg Meerkat that PnP know of....they are just a little bit smaller my neck of the woods

For the mauser you use 130gr impala cfn(the wadcutter) bullets.

They won't tumble, they do not expand or fragment and damage the hide, nor do they damage meat.
You don't have to download, just work up a normal load.
    They are damn cheap too.

You won't win any long range shooting competitions, but for small game, hard to beat.

+1 I have seen a Sharpe's Grybok shot with a 458 with solids. No damage to the cape

This is common practice with blue duiker, which are really small and are always shot at very close range, it is an extremely bad idea for steenbok, grey duiker and antelope of similar size. In our area, duiker and steenbok are shot between 50 and 100 meters, at that range a shotgun with bird shot guarantees a wounded animal.

.223 FMJ is available in most places and cheap too. Should be ideal for the small duikers, steinbok, etc.
