Default Franchi 500 - what can you tell me?

I recently got my license approved for this semi auto.
It is the 1976 "improved" model.

I would like to know more about this type of shotgun from users that have used them?

What parts need oiling? How to fully strip the shotgun? What to avoid doing(rookie mistakes)

I have cycling issues, and want to know where I can get a new O-ring seal for the gas piston, it has none installed.. Previous owner said the FA has never been disassembled and has less than 100 rounds trough.

I have read the few threads on GS, but would like to know more.

    Thanks in advance!

Don't know squat about the Franchi 500, but you may find an O-ring of the appropriate size at your local hydrolics shop. Got some for my Remington 1100 there.

What ammo are you using? Is it 28gr? I suggest using 30gr minimum. We found that the franchis don't run consistently with light loads. I do know of some guys that modified their gas ports to run with lighter loads, but I will still use the heavier loads just to be on the safe side.

I bought some spares from these guys.

My Franchi doesn't like light loads and don't put a thick oil where the piston runs. I have had issues in the past where the oil was just thick enough to retard the piston and caused failure to eject the spent case.

    34gr buckshot doesnt eject.
I have tried 3 different brands of ammo.

Thank you. They are sold out. I did check there.
Any South African dealers that I could support?

Even if Numrich Gun Parts don't have your parts in stock, do download their exploded drawings and parts lists. These will show you all the variations.

Mine runs smoothly with 24g loads, with a fresh O-ring installed. Find the right size (I'll have made a note somehere...) and use a Viton O-ring. The normal Neoprene type can't take the heat.
