    One can sue.

My brother is busy doing just that for replacement of parts that vanished from his gun in their custody.

Can you post pictures of the part which is "damaged with rust"? I'm having trouble picturing which piece that is.

I made a post in the Firearm Legal Section on what happened to my firearms :)

I can sue, but the legal costs will be far more than the damage.

The part that rusted is here, this is also the part im looking for in SA:

I'll give my two cents on this cause I do have first hand experience on this matter. I acquired a new Galil back in 1987 and after going through several hundred rounds I noticed a slight peening on rear of the bolt carrier where it contacts the rear trunnion. I was a bit concerned about the long term results of this peening so I decided to install a buffer in it like what was on the picture. The results for me is all positive, a tad softer recoil and no short cycling. I did replaced it later with the ones that came with the R series with the same results. Recently, I have been reading bad experiences with buffers like the one pictured coming apart and jamming the trigger mechanism and such. I think it has something to do with the material used on the buffers. My first buffer material is just like the R series buffer which is a little pliable and minimal to no wear after several hundred rounds. The reason why I think people are having problems with it is because they purchased the cheap ones available on eBay which are very hard and I believe was made in China. I have those too so I know first hand but have not not tried it yet. My recommendation is buy from a reputable supplier and don't be cheap. Remember the old adage "you get what you paid for."
