What does GOSA do? Their website seems vague

Joining Gosa is not a solution for the OP's question. Joining the insurance that Gosa sells is obviously a better one. Comes at a different price tag though.

The cost involved in this is the catch.
Like the Americans say- rather be tried by twelve than carried by six.
You will know when your life is in real danger.

Does the attacker need to show that he is armed/ sufficiently armed for you to believe that your life is in immediate danger?

Suppose its someone that starts a squabble with you and then it turns ugly, but you expect serious harm or death due to their attack?

GOSA does not do the insurance. That changed in March

We were burgled a couple of weeks ago. The burglars entered my bedroom and stole my cellphone and laptop while I was sleeping (perhaps drugged). I had my gun next to me and didn't hear a thing. If I would have woken and found strangers in my trip I would most probably have shot them. My feeling is that burglars in my bedroom implies mortal danger. Thank God I wasn't put to the test. Would a "reasonable man" shoot an intruder in his bedroom I believe is the relevant question.

If you have a firearm competency you already know the answer to that question!

Gas? Wouldn't be the first time I've heard of that tactic being used.

You would have made a plan to extricate yourself from the situation long before it got to that point.
