Default Browning High Power 9mm Advice

    Hi Guys/Girls

I have recently acquired a Browning High Power 9mm Clone (Luger M80). Shoots fantastic. And I have booked it in with Piet for a cerakoting job later this year. Added a few new MecGar Magazines and invested in range ammo. Currently, I am using Sellier and Bellot JHP as the gun shops in my part of the woods do not have stock of anything to the likes of Winchester or Hornady.

My question is, what do you guys suggest for self defense carry ammo? My barrel feed ramp has been polished to an extent by the previous owner.

I do understand that this is an older firearm, however since my licensing process was completed, it has functioned flawlessly with S&B FMJ and the S&B JHP 115GR.

    Thanks in advance chaps

So stick with it and not worry about "higher price means better quality"

If it isn't available, then why ask?

Tell us what is available and we can give you answers based on that. It is hard to recommend something without knowing what is available.

I should have added, I do not mind travelling out to purchase something of higher quality.

    I am based in Pietermaritzburg.

With regards to the above mentioned brands. What would you suggest? As the salesmen here could not assist in this regard.

If I am missing out on any other details in my post, please advise so that I avoid wasting anyones time in the future.

You have an older design, engineered more towards a specific bullet shape.Reliability should be first priority.

I have had my Browning for more than 25 years. Put a various rounds through it. I still have P.M.C hollow points as a carry load, spaced with a heavy jacketed round. My ramp was polished years ago and I dare say by now, very well polished, with what I have put through it.

Find something you are comfortable to fire and as said above make sure that they feed ...... Every time.
