Ruger 10/22 Cycling issues
Afternoon all,
My 10/22 has a big ammo cycling issue. More especially on the 25round mags. In the standard 10 round mag, zero issues.
I have 3 x 25 round mags and not one runs reliable.
Is it a ammo issue? I've tried standard and sub sonic. Armscor Guerilla Ammunition
Or do I need to look elsewhere?

What 25 rnd'ers do you have - the Ruger ones? or the knockoffs?

Re: Ruger 10/22 Cycling issues
Bought some Remingtons now to go and try out.
I have 1 original Ruger 25 round and 2 knockoffs. All give the same issue.

Re: Ruger 10/22 Cycling issues
I run Winchester high velocity in mine - have the Ruger BXP25's. Runs well, but it is also prone to issues from time to time. Normal run of the mill stoppages - mostly feeding issues, I think that is linked to some misformed rounds not feeding correctly.
How old are the mags - try opening them up and giving them a clean. Might also be adding to your issues. Some ammo - perhaps your Guerilla ones as well - have a waxlike coating that takes the joy out of shooting your Ruger.
Try a few more brands ammo as T said.

Re: Ruger 10/22 Cycling issues
I also have the same problem... I have run almost all the brands through the 25 ruger mags and it mis feeds most of the time... I have also read online that you need to lightly oil the spring inside the mag... I will be trying it and will report back if it was a fix... I mostly use the 10 round mags. No issues with them.

Re: Ruger 10/22 Cycling issues
Seems the problem is more common than I thought.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll attempt to service the mags and use other ammo.
I'll give feedback on the results.

Re: Ruger 10/22 Cycling issues
I've had good results with CCI SV and Winchester T22. Winchester White Box and most Remingtons gave a lot of problems. I take apart and clean the Ruger 25 shot mags from time to time. I avoid dropping the mags in the dust, even if it costs me time on a stage (Mini-Rifle). I make sure the chamber is clean and the bolt well oiled (not excessive). My 10/22 is quite reliable, but like most S/L .22's it has its occasional off days.
