UTG QD low profile rail system (Pic heavy)
Hi, all
Recently got my hands on one of these to test, and thought I'd share the results here for anyone looking to invest in one. :)
So installation is very simple, just remove the rear sight (YouTube is your friend) and slip in the rail. The lock block is installed on the existing trunnion so unfortunately this will only work on the fixed stock models.
* note some stocks like my Zhukov required a small modification for the lock block to fit, as the trunnion is not accessible nothing a dremel tool cant solve.
Grouping with the rail system was decent. rail was lifted and locked back in place before every grouping test, (middle was me just having some fun rapid fire :D ) ammo used was cheap Norinco milsurp at 25M.
Below was 50M result.
All in all very happy with the results. Nice option if you don't want to use a side rail and need a low profile solution.

What did you have to modify on the zhukov to get it to fit?

Basically had to remove the thin layer of plastic covering the trunnion. Removing this bit to expose trunnion does not compromise the stock in any way. (2cm x 1 cm piece)
Will be doing some 100m testing end of this month with Hornady SST rounds and Norinco Milsurp.

a better pic of what is needed. the locking block fills this gap perfectly. The plastic is abount 1.2 mm thick, the actual "support" of the stock is around it, so its clear this bits purpose is only cosmetic.

One of the various shotgun style low mount rail peep/ghost ring sights should work with the rail and front sight super sight radius :p but will be obscured with any optic mounted.
