    Default 6.5 x 55 CZ lux - bullet choice

    Hi,

Busy with load development for springbok Voorsit in Karoo in July 2017.

Have GS Custom 110hv, but am also considering Ttsx 120gr.

Anyone have experience with both / either, - specifically on springbok?

(Loaded a few Hornady 140gr Interlocks for range and practice....great grouping at 100 + 200mtrs)

I've only used Interlocks and they work perfectly.

Just stick to the Interlock. It is cheaper to shoot, so you get to practice more before you go. Also, the heavier bullet will have a better BC in case it is a little windy.

For the price of the more expensive bullets and the load development process, you can rather shoot another springbok.

120 grain TTSX is the only premium hunting bullet I shoot in my 6.5x55
Had nothing but good experiences with them, including a big kudu bull last year.
But yes they are getting pricey for a range round.

I agree with the heavier bullet choice for the Karoo (wind) , I use a 140g Nosler Accubond .

You should be fine with all of them.
Just remember, as always it's a balance of pros and cons.

The heavier the bullet(generally) the better the BC meaning less wind drift.
The lighter and faster the bullet the shorter the time on target, with an extended MPBR, which helps in driven hunts(voorsit) and fidgety animals, but on windy days with poor BC's it may be a problem.

The trick is if you are going the faster route then despite it being monolithics if you shoot on the shoulder at close range expect a lot of meat damage. So try and shoot behind the shoulder at close range.

As always we are just splitting hairs, work up a load, figure out your MPBR, zero accordingly and shoot dead on.
