Boy am I glad I went for the bigger safe!

This is how it came configured. The rifles didn't all fit on one side.

There are 14 rifles and 8 handguns to consider so I had to open up the other side for rifles also..
This is it for now....so I can get it all in. As it is the 105yr old Mauser had to be left out. Too tall and I wanted to use the shelves up top, that I lost to opening up the other rifle rack. I'll spend time making it all nice later....obviously the handguns won't take up so much space...I'll make or get get some pistol racks to reduce the footprint of same...... and maybe build out the lower rifle rack area or just go for RifleRods.

I'll compact everything. Sometimes I'll have to move a couple rifles to get to one in the back but it's no big deal. I'm just happy they are locked up properly now.

I still have the LED light strip kit to install also.

    Excuse the garage mess!

As to the flooring tiles.......applying to the outside seems silly as the crooks could just peel them off. On the inside I can see how they might interfere but not much. However.........tack welding on a couple 1/4" thick steel plates, on the inside, would really make a difference. They'd be going through cutting wheels like crazy. Eventually though......given time and tools......they will get in.

Do you guys have to through bolt to the floor as well as the walls? Is it the bottom and back wall or does it have to be a corner fitting so bottom, one side and back?

    Hi Fumbles.
    Great safe.
Can you get USPS to post one to me ?
I seem to remember (I'm getting old) that you only have to bolt either to the wall or to the floor.
Other posters can give you better info I'm certain.
Three sides (ie corner) is not needed.
You must use 10mm (rawl) bolts and I 'played safe'...pun intended...and have bolted mine to both floor and wall and used araldite as well to really fix them firmly.
Means that I can never move house though !
    Again...Great safe.
    Regards.
    Keith.

I kinda stopped reading after I saw the rifles in safe.
I was jealous about the safe. But the feeling got worst when I saw the rifles and handguns in it.

I think a great way to protect a safe will also be to attach to wall with bolts.
then build a brick wall around it and around corners in front.
Will give them alot of work to get though the bricks before they can start grinding.

Poor Mauser left out in the cold! Can't you drill a hole in the shelf for its barrel?

Afaik the safe needs to be bolted either to the floor or wall....suppose best if you can do both....and that after a certain weigh (iirc over 350kg) then can be free standing.

I thought of that Willie. Or notch it out. I won't however alter the original but if I make my own shelving I will for sure. Thx.

Today I drilled into the concrete slab and installed the anchor bolts. I also installed a battery powered LED lighting strip kit which has a motion sensor.

I actually used different concrete anchors to the Red Heads that I was going to use. I found out about these Simpson Titen HD bolts from the safe installers who delivered my safe....thats what they use exclusively. The really neat thing is that they have a hex head and are removable. With the red heads I would have to have someone help me lift one side, put a 2X4 under that side....then lift the other side (on the first 2X4) so I could put another 2X4 under the other side....so as to clear the threaded bolts sticking out the slab. Huge PITA!! And if I was moving the safe I'd have to cut them off flush with a cutting wheel and try to patch the concrete with the plug still in there and it being flush and all. Hard to fill. With the Titen HD's the holes are open and easy to fill up with concrete/cement mix.

A sample Titen HD Screw Anchor.....also known as a Wedge Bolt.

With the light OFF...i.e no lighting kit. Just the garage light shining on the safe. Without it, it would be completely dark.

With the light kit ON. Makes a huge difference.

It's just one of those strips of LED's that have an adhesive backing. Like these.

That's not all my guns for a reason. Wifey knows nothing about my guns, how many I have etc. She's going to want to see inside the safe.....so I figure leave some out to lessen the shock. I'm very caring that way!!

Plus after that I load it up and next time when she says "where'd all those guns come from...when did you buy more?" I can say..."I haven't bought any recently honey-pie...you saw these before.....what's the big deal all of a sudden?" ..........and then run like hell!!!
