    Default MAG-LITE Upgrade

    Hi Guys.
    I have an old (15 years+) MAG-LITE torch.
Is it possible to upgrade the existing globe to a LED ?
The torch still works 100% but does rather 'eat-up' the batteries.
    Regards.
    Keith.

Yes you can get an LED upgrade for it, won't be massive lumen but still.

1st prize would be to import an LED upgrade from https://malkoff-devices.myshopify.co...to-fit-maglite

I've gone this route and with the cost of batteries and the lack of spill I just bought a decent 2 x AA torch to replace it.

Have my proper surefires, streamlights and an elzetta as primaries

You dont mention which Maglite. I did the upgrade on mine about 12 months ago, which is a 3 cell (those huge batteries), and it was a revelation in terms of light quality, the distance of the throw, and i haven't changed batteries since....

It is probably the same year model as yours.

Think i paid R300.00 at DSG. Money well spent, as you do get a decent truncheon in the process...

    Hi Spez247.
    Thanks for that.
Yes, it does seem that we both have the same 'old' MAG-LITE which uses X3 'D cell' batteries.
The ZAR 300 which you spent at Dave Sheer Guns...was that just for the replacement LED ?
If so...good value...I hope that DSG still stock them.
They are my 'local' gun shop.
I seem to spend a lot of time (and money) there !
Regards...and Thanks Guys for all the info.
    Much appreciated.
    Keith.

the maglite i bought from mr_medic has the led upgrade (not sure which one)

it may have less lumens than my led lenser but it pumps out a solid beam and seems brighter to me

weirdly i can light up my old mans exterior walls and he must be a solid 500-600m up the hill from me

Yes, it's not ALL about the lumen.

I've done the upgrade. Sometimes I have to shake the torch to get it started. When it works, it's great.
