Why? Is it a state secret??

Not directed at you, it merely grates me to a small degree that putting a price in your post when advertising seems to be such an issue.

Many companies do this... nothing untoward about this at all.

So if you want the damn thing call the people.

So that if you want to price check you have to at least pay for the phone calls.

LOL, who wins? No, really, using paid company resources to answer numerous calls just to provide a price which still will likely not sway the buyer if he/ she is the price checking kind doesn't seem like a logical way to spend money on staff nor is it in my humble opinion a good use of business time.

You see the price, you know you cannot afford it, you don't phone or, you can afford it and you phone the dealer to book the item/ discuss when you will come in to make payment VS. You don't know the price, you phone the dealer, it is too expensive and both parties lose 3 to 5 minutes of their working time/ lives attending to something without benefit to either party. Repeat this 20 times a day and who loses the most?

it filters out time wasters, which there are a lot of

because if someone actually wants the gun they shall call to query price,

or they will now have to call every shop to try and find the best "deal"

I've bought almost exclusively from people who give prices. I interpret it as if they're expensive if they don't post a price.

Its interesting how buying patterns differ.

When I asked some shops about this practice (not S&O) of no prices unless by phone, they told me its because their competitors check their Facebook, etc posts with pricing on items and then their competitors try to undercut their prices by being cheaper.

I used to enjoy seeing prices on Facebook, saves time.
Now its a bit of a nuisance. Sometimes I phone a store (not S&O) and nobody answers because they are busy.
Then I phone later and get through to the lady at the phone
I get put through to the ammo section and the phone keeps ringing, and then returns to the same person. She apologizes and says they are busy and then sends the call through again.
Then I get to someone at the ammo section and he doesn't know about the ammo I'm talking about and then has to find the guy who posted it on the company FB page.
Then he finds him and gives me the price.
This is definitely not easier than seeing the prices on FB or websites etc.

Anyway, we're kinda clogging up this dealer's thread. Maybe one of the mods can move this to a new thread in a different section about this practice ?
