SAP COIN UNITS
As a regular policeman 1979 - 1987 I was sent off on 3-month border duty stints almost every year '79 - '85. This was when I traded the blue crimpeline uniform for camo's, had an R1 stuffed into my hands and then shipped off in trucks/ flossies to join COIN bases all over the country. Amongst the postings was Clarence (Lesotho border - where believe it or not, we were involved in an action), Kostini (Kruger Park near Shingwedzi, Moz Border, also saw some action here) and Tsandi, SWA - as a radio operator for Koevoet for 3 months.
With the above as background, does anyone know of any active COIN Units vets associations / Clubs or such like? I have found one or two on the internet, but they do not seem to be active anymore.....
I would like to join and perhaps arrange a get-together at my range here in the lowveld. Would be nice to meet guys from that time that reside in and around the lowveld. Maybe enjoy a few beers, reminisce and burn a bit of gunpowder on the range.

Re: SAP COIN UNITS
Try posting on the GRENSOORLOG / BORDER WAR 1966-1989 group on Facebook. That would most probably be a good place to start since they have +46 000 members.
And thank you for your service!

Re: SAP COIN UNITS
They should also be able to assist. There's a LOT of vets there.
The COIN Vets League should be be useful too, I don't know them so cannot comment.
Oh, and thank you for your service. Had family in the nasty side of thick of things there so I know it wasn't always pretty.
