Default Chiappa M1 Carbine in 9mmP

Shootingstuff has a 9mm carbine from Chiappa for sale. It is basically a copy of the M1 Carbine.

Does anyone have experience with this rifle?

I know the feeling. The M1 carbine has had my attention for quite some time but the relative scarcity of cases makes it troublesome. Now they have the same platform in a common calibre with Beretta 92 magazines. Skoon stout!

Read some of the international reviews.

    The reviews don't seem great.

DsJ rather save an extra couple of bob and you can get one of those SAR 9mm carbines from DSG. They seem to run like sowing machines.

A carbine/semi competency at first, and maybe at a later time the carbine. Somehow the idea of two guns in one caliber sound really attractive.

If you're into the Garand / Carbine / Mini14 look... and 9mm... it's actually quite damn cool.

How it looks does not matter that much. Whether it works well is quite important. I simply would like a longer barrel to get as much as possible out of the 9mm cartridge without paying the price of two or three new pistols for it. Currently everything is very theoretical.

    Yeah, that is quite compelling.

I did some scratching around in Quickload now as well, also just being very theoretical about it.

Seeing as I don't have S121 in Quickload, I compared MS200/MP200 and S221 - max theoretical loads (so please don't use them, this is just for indications) give me the following results using Frontier 124gr RN bullets

    MS200
    4" - 1105fps
    18" - 1362fps

    Mp200
    4" - 1116fps
    18" - 1388fps

    S221
    4" - 1129fps
    18" - 1447fps

So, one would probably want a load that will work interchangeably, but I find the speeds quite interesting. Also, the price vs an entry level 223 AR makes it interesting indeed...
