    One does not need a driver's licence or even a licence disk to own or possess a car - merely to drive on a public road.

    A firearm is still property, sometimes of considerable value.

    Confiscation without remuneration is still unconstitutional.

    Agreed. My point is that with an expired vehicle licence one is given 30 days grace to relicense. Further, after that period, the driver is fined for driving on a public road without a valid licence. Thereafter I'm a little fuzzy as to the procedure for repeated infractions.

    Why is the same thought pattern not applied here?
