Basically it illustrates the futility of trying to build a budget rifle.
Just a single page could have summed it up, but hey, this is what forums are for, plus it relieves boredom if not frustration.

As everyone else has already said, but just to drive the point home. Again.
Howa 308.
Buy a Boyds Laminated Thumbhole stock as and when funds allow if you absolutely think its necessary.
Spend the money you are saving on Gunsmithing fees on Better Optics, or another hunt.
What exactly will an 8x60 or 7x57 achieve that a 308 or even 30-06 Long Actioned Howa doesn't?
