Are we talking about a 308 Win caliber or 308 diameter bullet in general ?
    308 win
    Lapua cases
    22" barrel
    1/10 twist

Mostly bush, but want a do it all combo..

I worked up a load on 165gr TTSX in my .308, 20" barrel and 1:12 twist.

due to the case capacity ( and a bit to my short barrel) I had 180gr A frames traveling at similar speeds to the TTSX. About 2400FPS if I recall correctly.

    OK.
Apologies i was under the assumption that you where using a 30-06.
In that case I would definitely use the 150 grain.
The 165 grain is considerably longer and will sit very deep into your case and take up too much case volume.
150 grain will also allow better MV for medium distance shots.

I found them to be too far a gap. So I went with 2 different loads,
180gr for the bush (A frame or Partition, working on a partition load after this years hunt)
130gr TTSX for plains (if I ever get there shooting ability wise)

Just remember, Daniel hunts bushveld, hence he can sacrifice a bit of BC and speed to gain added weight for big bodied animals.
Also, as such he does not need the TTSX, he can load a 165gr TSX easily to 2600ft/s, that will serve him very well for shots up to 200m.

Sure, but he didn't mention what species are on his list.
If it's kudu and Wildebeest then by all means load the 168gn.

I just think that the 150 grain is a better compromise.

In fact, if I used my trusty 308 for bushveld hunting mostly I'd just load 180gr TSX bullets at approx 2450ft/s.
Good for....well anything with absolutely no meat damage.

For the plains I would load a more modern offering, meaning a high BC bullet.

Once again I'm in agreement with you but the OP stated his looking for a multipurpose combo.

That was their reasoning over the 150gr, for the larger game we have here.

Messor, what plains bullet would you choose for the 308. And what bullet would you choose for both plains and bush purposes. I understand there will be some compromise.
