Re: Howa HCR
Nope. Kloppers confirmed 24 inch heavy only. The 26 inch threaded barrel models not currently on offer here as far as i know. I specifically asked them to double check.

Re: Howa HCR
Dont get me wrong. These are excellent chassis packages, and very accurate out the box like all Howas. Hell i wanted to buy one but at this pricepoint i will be looking at maximum bang for buck.
As someone pointed out to me. A Tikka Supervarmint stainless could be had from Safari currently for just over 18K. Mmmmmmm now the gears start turning. And after all is stripped down you have a Howa bull barrel rifle with fancy chassis. Just to add the Supervarmint comes std eith a 20 moa scoperail. Add that to the Howa and there goes another 2K plus. Do i make sorta sence now?

Re: Howa HCR
I brought in a MDT Chasis. Which landed about 3-4weeks back. Export permit from Canada took +-20days.
But they dont charge Export fees like US.
Anycase. I bought the HS3 chasis, MDT Lite Stock, MDT grip(Hogue) and 2 steel mags.
I took Steel mags although $20 more eachs then the 8 round Pmag. I like the fact its more flush.
Everything was R8500-9000 with Rand to Canadian Dollar. And the shipping with DHL was CA$89. Which was just under R800.
Plus VAt this side and 15% Customs on Rifle parts. Came to about +-R12 000.
But a brilliant Chasis. I wanted to buy locally. But quotes for locally made once all came back at R14000 for Chasis and R2400 for mags each.
Where the imported mags were R400 for 8 round and R600 for steel.

Re: Howa HCR
@Shooty, is the MDT HS3 not a synthetic chassis? then R12k vs the metal HCR chassis for R13.5k is not that far off... just my 2c
The Warrior Chassis are machined aluminum and less than R8k.
Your point about the local mags being expensive is valid
I am still torn between the RPR and HCR.... or perhaps a custom built chassis with a heavy barrel howa...

Re: Howa HCR
The Hs3 is Machined Aluminium. Which is cerakoted in Black.
They then add two polymer type side panels. Which is about max 5mm thick.
Which you can have in various colors. But standard they will be black or FDE.
These panels are merely to give a better feel to your hand then touching the open Alu.
Especially when cold.
But the Chasis itself is a huge block of machined alu not plastic at all.
The stock on here is the MDT Lite which is also solid Alu.
This is with a 5 round Steel MDT mag in. The 8 round Pmag is for me to long.
Got quoted locally 2400 for MDT 8 round mag. Its +-R500 direct.
