Re: Reputable tactical backpack manufacturers
I must say I love my Camelbak Trizip, it's great quality and the 3 zip system is pretty handy when unpacking stuff from the bag makes it much easier to reach down in the depths.
That at said I do wish it was a little bigger, as a 3 day pack it is a little on the small side, but for the hiking and camping I do at the moment it suits me fine. In the future though I would like to pickup a Motherlode pack so I have options.

Re: Reputable tactical backpack manufacturers
Top shelf brands aside I recently got a UTG Tactical bag as a gift, its probably on par with VISM/Condor quality.
Not sure what model buts very nice. Carry it every day. Slightly tacticool but hey so is my paracord bracelet and operator cap ;)
Pictured. Just minus the Maxpedition 4x4 pouch now.

Re: Reputable tactical backpack manufacturers
Hey there,
I am retired Army happened to be a bag freak I guess you could say. I have done plenty of research including hours and hours of Internet searches as well as purchasing bags and bags from different companies to try out, keeping some selling others etc..
As for the high end type of the bags and packs you are referring to here is a list of my suggestions!
Hope it helps,
1) emdomusa.com
Check out :
Baker Street Bag
Emdom/MM TNT Bag
Emdom/MM Charge Satchel
Emdom Wide Load Pouch (can purchase a shoulder strap from them and is as a go-bag)
Extremely high quality gear. Best thing about them is they do all the standard mil/tactical colors, i.e. Multicam, coyote, od, black and more..... but they also do many more custom colors like navy blue, grey ....khaki etc.
2) zulunylongear.com
check out :

Re: Reputable tactical backpack manufacturers
I've ruined 2 cheapy bags, one Condor and one VISM with light to moderate use, I would not rate either as good bags.
While it isn't "tactical" I still using two K-Way backpacks I bought from Cape Union Mart in the late 90s.
That being said I've recently bought a no-name "tacticool" backpack from a local store because I suddenly realised I needed a small overnight-ish bag and my 50L were too big. And it is surprisingly well made, and it matches the old SANDF 83 chest rig Nutria colour almost perfectly.
Am not expecting it to last long but then I'm using it for over night trips, not travelling through the Caprivi in a Buffel.

Reputable tactical backpack manufacturers
I have used Camelbak and Karimor backpacks for a number of years and they seem to be tough and last well.
One of my Karimor packs is a 70L nutri brown backpack I bought in Dec'85 at the SAWI shop in Ruacana during my 1st week of border duty for R99. Used it for a year on the border and for 2 Commando camps afterwards as well as numerous hiking trips since. Still have and use it today and it is in very good condition. Not a bad investment for a nearly 32 year old backpack!

Re: Reputable tactical backpack manufacturers
I just noticed that you said you were looking for a first responder type pack or bag as well…
Does it matter if it is a shoulder/messenger style bag versus a sling pack or a backpack? Do you have a preference… Same for the go bag do you have a preference in the style of bag you're looking for? Not sure if you checked out any on the list that I sent but Hawkepaks has a wide variety of bags designed specifically for first responders, military, LE etc as well as every day carry bags and go bags. What I like most about their stuff besides the variety in design/features is that all of their gear is priced pretty good.
I don't think I mentioned this particular bag but I ordered one the other day and it came in I'm very satisfied. It's the hidden woodsmen Haversack ...
Check out thehiddenwoodsmen.com
Malcolm Coderre makes all of the bags and packs by hand and his work is excellent. The haversack is a shorter style bag primarily used in the bush craft community but he puts A modern swing on the bag and almost a slight tactical appearance. He does a variety of colors , Normally he does them in Ryan's he'll do one color combination of bag and thread, Sell those out and do a run of a different color. I purchased the gray color because of the urban appearance it gives the back being I purchase this bag has an every day carry/travel bag carry-on. He makes another one called the the 20L day ruck which I plan on purchasing soon, as soon as he does another run of earth brown or arrange your green or another car I might like… He also makes a variety of pouches in such..
Again hope all of that helps out a little. If you could though give me an idea of exactly what you plan on using each bag for and if you have a preference on the style of bag… Like I mentioned above, shoulder/messenger bag… Sling bag or backpack?

Re: Reputable tactical backpack manufacturers
I recently got some First Tactical bags, crosshatch sling and the specialist half day pack :)
Quality is excellent, as one would expect but couldn't be happier.
Both bags extremely modular, sling pack can be adjusted to either left or right handed preference and can be attached to the half day pack although not ideal but definitely possible.
I recently came back from Europe with both bags setup that way and it performed flawlessly.
I got them from a local online company www.rockymountainarmory.co.za
Go check them out, their service is impeccable, goods imported directly from the USA.
I think I'll go punt them on some other forum pages in here :)
