Re: Australia, New Zealand or Canada?
Are you in remission or currently undergoing treatment?
My parents recently got NZ residence whilst my father was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer and my mother has MS.
Each case is taken on its own merit so it’s not always a definite no, it may mean you need to fight a bit harder to get it though.

Re: Australia, New Zealand or Canada?
I have multiple myeloma, thus not curable, hopefully going for stem cell transplant in the next month or two. Will always be under some kind of treatment. My chemo cost R40 000 a month for 6 months..

Re: Australia, New Zealand or Canada?
Thanks guys, I'm still here and that's all that matters. Going for stem cell treatment soon. Was thinking of immigration as an option, but situations change and our wonderful Rand is worth nearly nothing at the moment.

Re: Australia, New Zealand or Canada?
It's funny, but in the US sometimes the subject like this comes up. Personally, I'd probably move to the state of Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. Their population density is fairly low, their political climate is a bit more conservative, and some of the geography is beautiful.
I love New Zealand, but it really looks like both New Zealand and Australia are moving more and more towards a full on nanny state. Canada is an attractive country, with relatively good gun laws, but if I were to go there I'd want to live on the west coast around the Vancouver area for it's climate. But like the "left coast" in the US it tends to be more left leaning. Edmonton in Alberta is more politically conservative with great people, but the winters can be harsh. Also the socialized medical system in Canada is terrible if you get really sick, a lot people with cancer, that can afford it come to the US for treatment. The overall trajectory of Canada seems to be moving left.
Some of the Eastern European countries are interesting, but there would be more of a cultural adjustment, not to mention language barrier.
Something you guys might find interesting, recently boarder patrol has been running across central African illegal immigrants at our southern boarder. Apparently these poor folks, spent month traveling from countries in South America to try to cross the southern boarder with Mexico into the United States. I kind of feel sorry for them.
The US is still a good place to live, but legal immigration can be tedious, but I think that's pretty much the case with Australia, New Zealand and Canada too. It seems like it's a lot easier just do it illegally in almost all western countries.
Despite the bad press there are actually some very nice places I'd live in Mexico. The Mexican people tend to be conservative, and by and large are nice people. In some cities and regions the crime rate is quite low, and they actually seem to enjoy a lot of personal freedom. However their gun laws aren't all that great.
If I were just going on climate and geographical beauty my choice would be New Zealand. But with the political climate and business opportunity would probably trump the geography and knock them out the running for me.

Re: Australia, New Zealand or Canada?
Some South Africans are very happy in Chile. There's a big saffer community in Mauritius. The Irish are wonderfully warm people too.
There are lots of options.
