Terrible to lose land. I hope it works out for you. We hung onto ours for years, eventually forced off. Two seasons and the place was ruined, all the staff we had are now without homes and stock which we gave them. African politics at its destructive best.

I was seriously thinking about buying a smallholding just outside town and setting up JoJo tanks, solar, ect.
Now, I'm not too sure.

My brother emigrated to Canada more than a decade ago. He enjoys it a lot, got his citizenship last year and can't wait to vote for the first time this October. There is a well established Saffer Expat community in Canada which will help with the integration.

I must admit that when we decided to make the move it didn’t look this bleak. Our decision was centred mostly around the future of our children.
I’m really worried about the people we left behind, with all of the things happening at the moment.
