    The 6th trained in Egypt before shipping off to Italy. May have got them that route.

    I'm up for correction but my understanding is that the rifle was first fielded in late 1943 which would have been too late to be used in North Africa.

    With the number of armed conflicts in North Africa / Middle East there isn't any guarantee it was found during WWII. Suez maybe?
